Tell Rove to obey Congressional subpeonas and answer questions about politicization of the U.S. Justice Department

Dear Mr. Rove,

We, the undersigned Americans, demand you comply with Congressional subpoenas and testify publicly and under oath about your involvement in inappropriate and possibly illegal political activity within the U.S. Justice Department.

Americans have a right to know if the Bush Administration has been using our Justice Department as a political tool. We have a right to know if qualified U.S. Attorneys were fired for not carrying out a partisan agenda on behalf of the Republican Party. And we have a right to know if you, as someone who was in the employ of the American taxpayers, were involved in this type of inappropriate activity. And, as our elected officials, Congress has the obligation to find out the truth.

Both the U.S. House and Senate Judiciary Committees have determined you are in contempt of Congress for ignoring and disobeying a lawfully issued subpoena to testify before Congress under oath. Even Senator Arlen Specter, the highest ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, has voted to hold you in contempt of Congress. And, most recently, a federal judge, appointed by President Bush, has ruled that you are not exempt from obeying a Congressional subpoena.

By refusing to even appear before Congress in response to a lawfully issued subpoena — let alone testify — you are not simply in contempt of Congress, but you make clear the great contempt in which you hold the American public.
